another scene i animated for the 'off the rack' episode of Motorcity. the low angel was a challenge at the time.
i also did the camera moves, something i use to make better of the flow of the action.

anyways.. also wanted to add... there are some people saying 2d is 'dead' or at least mostly done over seas... it is a very difficult process and takes all the time. watching the 'making of korra videos' give me hope that with much effort and time, we can do it here too. and it will all be worth it.

Oh man I loved this show. I'm so disheartened that it was canceled. There isn't anything else out there like this show. Gorgeous.

Wait, I thought camera movement was the job of the layout artist, not the animator. Animators at titmouse do both?

Motorcity is one of my favorite shows on TV right now, second only to Korra. Thanks for posting these animations, I've been watching them over and over, frame by frame, It's slowly developing my understanding, although i still need alot more practice before i'm ready to start making cartoons. The road to perfect pasta is a long and scary one!

I saw this on tumblr and wrote a post about it, but I also wanted to say something on here.
I sincerely hope that 2D animation will never be dead. There’s just something about it that’s magical. So much work goes into every frame to make it smooth and every little detail is amazing which is why it’s one of the reasons why I love Motorcity so much. Even though it’s technically a kid’s show, the animation is breathtaking (the backgrounds are one of my favorite parts) and the way everything just flows together is wonderful. I do plan on going into 3D animation someday, and 3D and 2D are so interconnected, I just can’t see 2D animation completely fading away. Of course I’m not saying that 2D is so much better than 3D (they’re both what I’d strive for!)…it’s just….they're both so wonderful and I admire any kind of animator so much.
Seeing spectacular art like this is what always inspires me, and on the off chance you'll be reading this: I definitely think it’s worth it! Thank you guys for putting so much effort and love into this show.

Great animation! Classic 2D animation is, at least in my opinion, much more vivid and inspiring than CG. I'm currently working with comics, but I really want to work with animation in the future. And seeing shows like Korra and Motorcity surely gives me the hope that 2D is not dead! So thank you guys. :)
